The Sandbox is a multiplayer, virtual world in which users can create, own, and monetize their digital assets on the Ethereum blockchain.
It is the latest version of The Sandbox franchise, which has been creating the sandbox world creation games since its launch in 2012.
The Sandbox’s fundamental objective is to provide a fully immersive metaverse where players may construct virtual environments and games, collaboratively and without central authority.
Unlike traditional games like Minecraft and Roblox, Sandbox’s goal is to provide creators with a complete control of their work, as non-fungible tokens (NFTs), and the opportunity to be rewarded with our utility token, SAND.
So, what can you do in the Sandbox?
First, you can create your own game using the sandbox game maker. No technical knowledge is necessary. The game maker software offers visual scripting to develop games.
To create a game, however, you need to own LAND. There you can place your ASSETS, example buildings, digital flowers, even scripting, turning a LAND from a decoration experience into a full game experience!
You can either design ASSETS in VoxEdit or purchase it. We will talk about VoxEdit and the marketplace shortly. You can utilize The ASSETS are placed within a piece of LAND that you need to own in the virtual world.
Secondly, you can create your own 3D voxel models, using the VoxEdit, a free NFT software builder. Then you can rig and animate them, and sell it as NFT on the Marketplace, and keep 95% of the proceeds! Or you can use them in your own game.
Thirdly, you can buy and resell NFTs via the Sandbox marketplace.
By the way, for someone who doesn’t know what NFT is, it stands for “non-fungible token”, which means it is individual. An example of NFT is anything digital, like a drawing, animated GIFs, music, or an item in video games. On the other hand, fungible means, when one unit is exactly the same as another.
Every dollar bill, when you get it out of your pocket, has no distinguishing marks or attributes from any other dollar bills in circulation – meaning they are all interchangeable with each other!
NFTs are stored on the Ethereum blockchain, which makes them safe, secure and transparent.
Now let’s continue talking about the marketplace. After signing up, it allows you to purchase voxel ASSETs, such as buildings, decorations, NPCs which can be placed on LANDs or collected.
LAND represents a virtual parcel of land in Sandbox, which is where players can place their buildings, decorations and other NFTs.
One important thing to note about sandbox marketplace: you don’t need any Ethereum to play! All transactions are executed between buyers and sellers using the sandbox’s own internal currency, SAND.
Another interesting part of the game, that you can experience the game by solving mysteries or interacting with other players. Or you can participate in mini-games, tasks, submissions and storylines
